Silly Silhouettes Assignment
For this assignment, I was tasked with sketching a series of silhouettes in various poses, using shape and line. The project was split into seven sections, each giving a specific guideline to follow.
Step 1: Draw 10 silhouettes
Step 2: Draw 10 silhouettes using an unfamiliar material (I used a charcoal pencil)
Step 3: Draw 10 silhouettes using only curves
Step 4: Draw 10 silhouettes using a single, continuous line segment with the least amount of detail possible
Step 5: Draw 10 silhouettes, spending three minutes on each and including as much detail as possible
Step 6: Draw 10 silhouettes that exhibit motion and movement
Step 7: Cut 10 silhouettes out of paper using an
X-Acto knife
For me, this assignment acted as a study on the various shapes and curves that make up the human figure. It forced me to study various examples and techniques online and put them into play. Obviously, it is still a work in progress, but it was good practice.
